Cascable RAW file image preview on iPad Pro

I’m shooting a Nikon ZF tethered with USB-C on my iPad Pro, Cascable Studio 7.2.2, and noticed that my RAW files display in very low resolution in image preview, too low to even properly assess image sharpness. When I shoot in JPEG, the images show up in high resolution. I prefer to only shoot in RAW, is there any way to get the image preview to display in high resolution? I’m guessing the file size of the RAW images are creating the issue, and I’ve scoured the settings but can’t find anything that addresses this issue.

Hello,

Sorry you’re having trouble with Cascable Studio. This is a known issue with some Nikon RAW images that we’re working on fixing - it’s a surprisingly huge amount of work, but we’re getting there.

Shooting RAW+smaller JPEG sizes should work around the problem for now - if there’s a small JPEG on the card, Cascable Studio will use that instead of the RAW for preview purposes.

Thanks for the info!

Hello,

I’d like to second this. I have a Z8. Just purchased your yearly product and I can’t even properly view the raws. Is there any timeline as to when this will be fixed?

Thank you.

Hello,

The best we can tell, the issue exacerbates more when using compressed or 14-bit RAWs. We’re working on an interim solution that’ll just download the entire RAW from newer cameras and use that to build the preview, since the issue appears to be the iOS/macOS’ handling of partial RAW images (we rely on the operating system’s RAW image support).

We should have that out before too long.
