External storage on SSD

Hi-
Been using Cascade to tether with an iPad for quite a while. Seeing all the new features and it seems I should be able to save images directly to an external SSD, rather than the iPad or the camera itself. Anyone got any idea goes to do this? It would make a big difference to my work flow.

Hello,

Sorry for the slow reply - it was originally posted into an unmonitored section of the forum. I’ve moved it to the right place.

To do this:

  1. Connect your SSD to your iPad, then go to the “Photos” section of the app and tap “Add Location…”.

  2. Pick your SSD (or, more likely, a folder on it) in the picker that appears.

  3. The SSD will then appear in Cascable as an available storage location. It should disappear and re-appear automatically as you disconnect and reconnect your SSD.

  4. You can now manually copy images to that folder on your SSD.

  5. To automatically copy images from your camera as they’re shot, tap the ‘+’ button at the bottom of the storage list to create a Storage Link. Choose the camera as the source and your SSD as the destination. Once created, images will be transferred from the camera straight to the SSD, skipping the iPad’s internal storage.
